OTs define “occupation” as any activity that occupies your time in your daily life. This includes, but is not limited to, activities such as caring for yourself, health management, recreation or leisure activities, play, home management, social activities, sleep, rest, education, and paid or volunteer work.
OTs use their expertise in science, creativity, activity analysis, problem solving, and various evidence-based therapy modalities to help clients re-engage in daily activities (i.e. “occupations”) and work towards their goals.
Occupational therapy addresses the occupational disruption that your health condition has on your life and acknowledges that participating in daily activities is central to health and well-being. Thus, resuming engagement in everyday and meaningful occupations to enhance recovery, health, and function is the focus of OT treatment.
Meet Alex
Welcome! I’m Alex, a Registered Occupational Therapist (OT) located in Vancouver, BC. I provide support with your recovery and wellness journey to help you return to daily life.
Being curious by nature, entering the field of occupational therapy was a natural trajectory in my life. My OT journey has been shaped by my own lived experience through adversity, coupled with my diverse professional interests in mental health, pain science, neurodiversity, ergonomics, and kinesiology.
My current practice primarily focuses on helping individuals with “less visible” diagnoses and challenges related to mental health, chronic pain, ADHD, post-concussion, burnout, fatigue, and chronic illness.
My clients come to me for support in addressing various challenges in their daily life, from difficulties with self care, sleep, and daily routines, to returning to work after medical leave.
I am a values-driven therapist and take delight in living my values of lifelong learning, connection, and authenticity. I feel immense gratitude to be in a position to be able to support others in their recovery and wellness journey.
I look forward to getting to know you better and exploring how we can work together!
